This week, I am back with a look at Diamond Dynasty cards I would like to see for teams in the AL Central. If you missed my look at the AL East, make sure you check it out here. Who should MLB The Show add to represent the AL Central teams? Keep on reading to find out! Chicago White Sox - Frank Thomas (1994) 'The Big Hurt' had one of the best statistical seasons of all time in '94 and, due to the shortened season, he only got into 113 games! Just consider some of these stats: a .353 batting average, 106 runs scores, 38 homers, 101 RBI's, a .487 on-base %, and a 1.217 OPS. Not surprisingly, Thomas won his 2nd consecutive AL MVP award. I won't hold the fact of the strike shortened season against Thomas because these numbers above are THAT ridiculous. Frank would join the upper echelon of DD First Basemen. Cleveland Indians - Albert Belle (1995) Albert Belle is arguably the most productive Outfielder of the 90's. Between 1991 and 1999, he had no less than 28 homers or 95 RBI's in a season. In '95, Belle hit 50 bombs and drove in 126 runs to go along with a .317 average and 1.091 OPS while leading the Cleveland's to the World Series (where they lost to the Braves). Belle also displayed an above-average arm in the OF, recording 91 assists over his 12-year career. He would probably slot in as a low-Diamond OF option. Detroit Tigers - Alan Trammell (1987) I really wanted to go with Cecil Fielder's 1990 season here, but I can't pick a First Baseman for every team, leading me to pick the oft-underrated Trammell. in 1987, Trammell was, deservedly, an All-Star, a Silver Slugger winner and finished runner-up in the MVP voting. He hit 28 homers and drove in 105 runs, all while hitting .343. While WAR wasn't a stat anyone talked about in the 80's, Trammell put up a WAR of 8.2 for the season. He also lowkey mixed in 21 steals in 23 attempts. That contact/power/speed combo would make Trammell a very desirable Shortstop option. Kansas City Royals - Bo Jackson (1989) I really want to say they would come out with a Yordano Ventura memorial card here, but I don't think that's likely so I went in a different direction. But, how excited would everyone be to get a Bo Jackson card?!? 32 homers and 26 steals in '89 would make Bo a double-threat and probably a very popular bunt cheese player. Jackson does have the drawback of striking out 172 times that season, so his Vision and Discipline would take hits, but surely Bo would be a very popular player in both Diamond Dynasty Head-2-Head and Battle Royale modes. Minnesota Twins - Kirby Puckett (1988) One of the most popular and likeable players of the late-80's/early-90's, Puckett is surely deserving of being a flashback representing the Twins. In 1988, Puckett put up career bests in average (.356), and RBI's (121). He also won one of his 6 Gold Glove awards making him an attractive fielding option as well. With the return of the Metrodome to current gen consoles, might as well include one of the players who made it famous. Alright folks, that's it for my look at cards I would like to see added for AL Central teams. Hit me up in the comments and let me know what you think and make sure to check back next week as I take a look at the AL West.
